As Peter Griffin (trademark Family Guy) would say, "You know what really grinds my Gears?", now using that i would like to say what grinds my gears, i would have to say it's today's generation of youth. With a history of lets take for example the United States, With a Music History and Film History that would make anyone envious, the films voted to have an Award are films such as "Justin Beiber: Never Say Never" "Toy Story 3" etc. Now i won't say Toy Story 3 wasn't a nice film, just the spectators it draws are mainly kids who haven't seen most of the Films like "Animal House" "Saving Private Ryan" ect. So Film culture isn't something they have in Abundance. Films with the same plot over and over and over again that have no point, where you sit in a movie theater for 2h of your life thinking "I could have made a better film with a lot less money" then i think that shouldn't win an Award. Movies Such as Black Swan, The King's Speech, and for a couple laughs Harold and Kumar those are films that go down as some of the best, not taking into account the history behind them, it's just that not enough people who go to see them these days that will actually vote for them to win an award. Exactly the same with Music, when Lady Gaga, the Jonas Brothers (+ Girl i think) and some Rappers that play on Commercial like "Lil' Wayne" hit the Platinum and fill stadiums and Concert Halls like The Rolling Stones used to or AC/DC or The Beatles, and where they are revered as some of the best Music of the Decade? Then personally i see a problem, When the main thing in the actual audio is the same beat over and over using maximum 3 instruments which none include a guitar, i honestly don't think that can be considered Music, more like Noise. But again, when an industry is forming itself around spreading it's propaganda to the youth and not the actual people with the money to pay for whatever it's selling then i guess the only thing you can do is go to see what little remains of what was made for those who have some sort of culture...
Ahh that was good to get that rant out of the way. Guys any idea's on this? Right? Wrong? Don't care? ^^
Music is dead
ReplyDeleteMovies are dead
Entertainment is dead
I'm ashamed to be "friends" with Bieber and Bruno Mars fans. They say lines like Avatar is da best muvi evar. As if they've watched a movie longer than 1 hour 30 min (standard for shitty movies)
I wouldn't go as far as to say Entertainment is completly dead, you still have the opposite to all those horrible things called "Popular", A little advice, turn on iTunes, plug in your speakers and crank Areosmith or ACDC full volume, represent what music is POWER TO THE TRUE MUSIC FANS!!! as for movies, i suggest watching Animal House a true classic
ReplyDeleteAs for the Beiber-Mars fans, i suggest that you put up with their insolance against what true culture is and just keep your likes to yourself maybe one day they will see the error of their ways and come back to the light side. Ohh and don't go to the Movies with them unless you wanna see something bad ^^
I hate the way new music sounds!
ReplyDeleteI do like a good rant. I think most of your complaints are justified, music today is terrible (not much of a film person). However I think one o the reasons old music always seems so much better is because we only remember the good bands. There have always been plenty of crap to mediocre bands about. Having said that, I don't think I want any of today's bands to be remembered.
ReplyDeleteTrue that there were some bands that don't grace old times, but then, i think they are better then some of the "Best" stuff that comes out today cause really atleast they use instruments and have words in their song, not the same stuff over and over until you want to cut your ears off
ReplyDeleteLoved your blog man, going to follow you!
ReplyDeleteI agree that todays youth has some bad taste in music, but i have to say that toy story 3 was a good movie...
ReplyDeleteWow, I completely agree.
ReplyDeleteAnybody see the new South Park?
Haha, totally agree with you. Followed.
ReplyDeletehaha sounds awesome, good writing mate
ReplyDeleteNice and I agree completely with you. Keep up the good work! :D
ReplyDeletemust admit music this day also grinds my gears...
ReplyDeleteWell, in the end, i think its all a matter of "OpinionsOpinionsOpinionsOpinionsOpinionsOpinionsOpinionsOpinionsOpinions" :D
ReplyDeleteI love a good rant. But I agree, there's plenty wrong with the youth of today.
ReplyDeleteGotta say that I loved Toy Story 3, but I pretty much agree on your other points. Lil Wayne is awful, and I seem to hear the same exact beat on every station at all hours.
ReplyDeleteYeah I see what you mean man, but thats just how people are, and how generations evolve, don't worry the younger generation will get whats coming to them when they become adults.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the post.
ReplyDeleteJust because a song is catchy, doesn't mean it's good and award-worthy.
This is today's generation!
*sigh*
Can't agree more... followed.
ReplyDeletewow man thats SO true thanks bro for sharing that..
ReplyDeleteSo much real talent slips thru, while we continue to make shitty talentless whores filthy rich.
ReplyDeleteGood post. Keeep it up.
ReplyDeleteCool Blog!
ReplyDeleteIt sucks how true this is D:
ReplyDeleteI agree with everything you said. I love rants. It's up to us to keep good music alive! :)
ReplyDeleteIt's good to see that society still has people with some sence in them ^^ always happy to see that, And i know most music tastes come from personal opinion but really keep the opinions to yourself and don't show them to the world. The Youth need to learn how to do that, keep the Opinions of ones music to themselves and not everytime they get in daddies car do they have to blast "50 cent" because they are "Representing" their freedom of music, but lets not forget the wonderful invention called the iPod, where all music can be listened to privatly, or atleast keep the volume down in the car. And i do agree i really liked the Movie Toy Story 3, but for it to win a Major Award that is usually reserved to films that have some seriousness to them, such as King's Speech, then really i can't see how the critics could have decided that. Anyway thanks again guys, i really hope your having as much fun as i am!
ReplyDeleteGood rant ha
